I still have a couple of request pieces left to do, but this one is a request from myself to myself.

Yeah, I got the DVD set the other day. The pilot episode still rawks.
It's amazing what they got away with on cartoons back then. Between this show and Batman TAS, you saw more gunfights and child endangerment than you could possibly imagine happening today on network television. This was before characters were simply "sent to another dimension" to explain the fact that their asses are getting murdered. It's fun to watch a children's cartoon where the words "murder" and "die" are used pretty frequently.

Nice use of shadow in the back.

Thanks! Taurus Bulba cuts a nice, menacing silhouette so it was easy to use him in shadow.

Oh, very very cool picture by the way. I love the lighting and how Bulba's face is completely in shadow. He really was the scariest bad guy. He wasn't funny in any way like the other villians.

Yeah, there was the ELEMENT of danger that they talked about but the physics of the cartoon universe were pretty forgiving. Falls, explosians, and gunfire were a threat but never did any permanent damage. But at times they did have you worried.

Great image! The colors are moody despite being almost monochrome, and the characters are just off model in a good way, accentuating the bandiness of the heroes against that brick solid form of Taurus behind them. If the linework were just a hair cleaner I'd think it was official Disney.

Would love to see what you could do with these characters these days.

Beautiful picture!

And I very much agree with you about old cartoons vs. modern.

this is epic! the pilot episode truly blew me away! the only thing i hated about the DVD release of it was, they didn't show the begining where Darkwing took out the bad guys like the VHS did. your art style is awesome!
