Rocky vs. Jaws by mallaard Rocky vs. Jaws by mallaard
In this conjoined sequel, Rocky must face his toughest opponent to date in the form of a Russian-trained, steroid-pumped shark by the name of Jaws. A rehash of the cold war story from Rocky IV, also starring Christopher Walken as a corrupt boxing ref with everything to lose!
I was inspired by the work of Mark Fredrickson when I made this image, hence the warped perspective and bright colors.

Wow. I love you for this. :D

I wonder what a steroid-pumped shark would look like in real life. I know nothing of a shark's anatomy so I don't know what's muscle and what's cartilage.

Imagine - you hear the Jaws music and see a fin slicing through the water - only it's like twice the normal size and all bulgy. :D
I'm pretty sure the fin is cartilage anyway, but it's a funny thought.

Thanks! Do you mean I should do more caricature type stuff, or more colored pencil stuff? You'd probably be right on both counts. I haven't used colored pencils in ages, I'm probably really rusty with them. But my scanner won't scan color well so until I get a real scanner I'll be leaving traditional color media alone.

Hahaha, nice. Did you know in the spanish version of Jaws, the sound the shark makes is a high pitched squeak going "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Imagine him with a sobrero and a thick black mustache, I call him "Wetback Jaws" XD

Thanks a lot! It was difficult for me to blend the colors the way I wanted them with colored pencils, which is why I'm glad I learned how to use Photoshop. But when all the world's electronics explode or revolt or whatever, it's nice to know colored pencils will still be around.

this piece deserves so much more faves and attention, not only its pure comic genius, it is also very rich on details!
really, if i was stallone, i would buy this pic and proudly hang it on my living room, thats the best stallone caricature EVER.
Also, i love that poster on the background, communist stuff always cracks me up.

I was particularly inspired when I made this piece, inspired largely by being graded in class for it. I should spend more time on pictures like I did on this one, which took three or four weeks to do from sketches to finisehd product. I'm pretty sure the Communist propoganda poster was the real selling point that got me to do this picture. I wonder what Sly would think of this. If I ever see he has a MySpace account I'll be sure to link him to it. Glad you like it!

This is cool, it looks like some kind of weird drug-trip. I'm too young to have seen either Rocky nor Jaws, but the idea of making Jaws the evil communist cracks me up. Weird, colorful, insane; there are a lot of good words to describe this interesting piece of art. Well done!

Dude, your beard is the most amazing thing I have ever seen on DA! I've been trying like hell to grow mine out, but it's like sowing wheat on the moon. Anyway, hell of a compliment, and I appreciate it! You've got some pretty awesome stuff, like kawaii Mr. T and Castro Mario. These are things that needed to be done, and it was by the grace of God that you were chosen as the medium for these inevitabilities. Oh yeah, Ghost Dog is a great movie. I once tried to assassinate a dude through a sink pipe, but I misfired and got toothpaste spit on my face. Forrest Whitaker kicks ass in everything he does.

Speaking of awesome movies, you seem like the type of chap who'd like this online movie store, so I link you to it presently...

I believe Christopher Walken belongs in anything that comes out of Hollywood. At least the good stuff. In fact, I might put him in more of my own stuff, make it a theme. Maybe throw Steve Buscemi in along with him for variety next time. Thanks for posting.

I remember finding a photo online of a caricature sculpture of Stallone somebody had made, and I think that was my major inspiration (at least subconsciously) when I drew him here. I made him fat because, well, it made me giggle. I wish I still had the link to that sculpture, but alas, no. Thanks for the comment.

If these two were to somehow cross their genes, or do DBZ-style fusion, then certainly the product would be Sylvester Stallone.
