Artist's Comments

I was trying for a less straight-forward approach with this one, and I think I came up with some fun stuff. Again, here's a link to Thweatted's original lineart.

Holy crud that's awesome! I love the canvas-ish look!

the fabric-esque look of the bg and the non tradicional shading and colors make this one stand out... seems a bit pallid and aged

The whole reason I even did this one was because initially I wasn't satisfied with the first version. With this one I wanted to color the girls in a much less traditional way, and also incorporate the floaty things in the background better than I did the first time. That's why I made it into a sort of blanket or wall-hanging, although thinking about it now I wish I'd tried a more carpet-like texture first. Thweatted's drawing seemed to offer a lot of possibilities, which was why I enjoyed working on it.

Very cool and fresh approach to this, kid. I like it for its innovation. The girls do seem slightly washed out though.

I just love how different this is from the last and the way you pulled the characters away from the background, well that you actually made it into a foreground and background. It's nice the way the light source affects them both. I also like how the color isn't in-your-face but there's still a lot going on with it. Thanks again for coloring. I'm getting inspired to experiment more with color instead of putting something down and getting it over with.

I wanted to see the girls colored in a style they're not usually done in. In fact, I almost never see them colored outside of the normal cartoon/anime flat color schemes, except for some of your own renditions, like that all-gold one you did (or was that the RRB, I can't remember right now). The little shapes reminded me of what you'd see on a child's blanket, so I went for that look, although I'd be a true bastard if I gave a rough-canvas blanket to a baby. We'll just say it's a wall tapestry of some sort.
Thanks again for offering up the drawing, I had mucho fun with it.

thats pretty cool, I like how they aren't their traditional anime colors. It kinda reminds me of a little kids wall paper because of how soft and washed out the colors are. I love their eyes, I think they are my favorite part.
